Be Brave July 6, 2012

Courage is seriously an amazing trait. Some people believe that courage is not being afraid. This is not true. To be afraid is only human nature. But bravery is the ability to keep going when the going gets tough, to continue to walk through the battlefield despite your heart pounding out of your chest.

There are a lot of songs I could reference here. So how about I give you guys a little bit of a playlist that talk about being courageous or calling upon God’s name in those tougher moments?

I Will Trust in You (Jeremy Camp)
Voice of Truth (Casting Crowns)
Forever Reign (Hillsong)
I Lift My Hands (Chris Tomlin)
Mighty to Save (Laura Story)
Move (MercyMe)
You Are More (Harrison J. Wood but I’m going to put the link for the Hillsong version)

And some Bible verses:

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. —Psalm 31:24

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. —Isaiah 41:10

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? —Psalm 56:3-4

Lastly, a memory from a camp I attended a while back. They have a special place in my heart.

“Be bold (be bold), be strong (be strong), for the Lord thy God is with thee!
Be bold (be bold), be strong (be strong), for the Lord thy God is with thee!
Be not afraid (Sha na na na na na na)
Be not dismayed (Sha na na na na na na)
Walk in faith and victory (C’mon!)
Walk in faith and victory
For the Looooorrrrddd . . . Thy Gooooooddd . . .
IS WITH THEEEE!
