God’s Peace on Hikes July 8, 2012

Filed under: Applied Faith — christical @ 6:52 am

Mood: At peace with nature and the world. ^_^

I’m writing today because I missed writing yesterday. But anyway . . .

I went hiking this morning. One and a half hours walking, perceiving, feeling–it really does great thing for the body and soul. Especially because I was hiking with my dad, who happens to be one those amazing hiking partners, the perfect mix between hiking buddy and occasional conversationalist. ❤

At a certain point on the trail which I traveled, all of the signs that told you that you were near a city were gone. Trees and cliffs surrounded me on every side, and a certain peace surrounded me.

The strange part? There was so much noise.

Trees rustled, birds sang, wild animals dashed over the surface of the rocks. Nature is by no means quiet. But instead of the song of artificiality and mechanics, it’s a symphony of God’s creation, God’s wonderfully made, existing, things.

I hope that every one of my readers gets to go hiking sometime soon. And the next time you do, I challenge you to listen. You may hear God’s voice there, without all the distractions.

I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. (Psalm 146:2 NIV84)
