Watching the baseball game, I just saw a play in which Mike Trout was attempting to catch a fly ball. He was shielding his eyes from the sun and trying to keep an eye on the ball. Honestly, I wasn’t too sure whether he would catch the ball.
Then, Torii Hunter came in and kind of knocked Trout out of the way, making the catch. I admired the action, because it was the action of a mentor helping out his protege (mentee? De-mented?).
Have you ever considered how God is like that? Even though we are all His children, God recognizes that we do have the power to resist at least some sin, but He will not give us too much to handle, stepping in when we need a hand to pull us out of whatever pitfall we’re trying to overcome.
Which brings me to my next point. There are pitfalls in our life we can’t overcome on our own. Sometimes, all we need is a bit of biblical encouragement. Other times, we need a little bit of help from the people around us.
Some psychologists have recognized this, and decided to try to establish a National Psychotherapy Day. I encourage you to support it by doing something, even as simple as giving your shrink friend a pat on the back for their hard work, or wearing something Turquoise on September 25th.
I’m showing my support for it by devoting a day or two of blogging to talking about the benefits of psychotherapy. You can also bet what color I’ll be wearing. 😉
Catch you guys later. Have a rad weekend, because Jesus loves you.
